Croteam and Devolver Digital have officially announced The Talos Principle 3, the final chapter in the philosophical puzzle trilogy that started back in 2014. The reveal came alongside a short teaser trailer that does more to set the tone than show off any actual gameplay, but the bigger story here is what’s confirmed about the release: PlayStation 5 and PC only, with the YouTube trailer description pinning the launch to next year. Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 are nowhere on the platform list, which is a pretty notable omission for a series that’s had a presence on Xbox going back to the original.
For those unfamiliar with The Talos Principle, it’s a first-person puzzle series from Croteam, the team behind Serious Sam, with writing from Tom Jubert and Jonas Kyratzes. The original released in 2014 to widespread acclaim, the sequel landed in 2023 with bigger environments and deeper philosophical storytelling, and last year Croteam revisited the original with The Talos Principle: Reawakened, a remastered and expanded edition built in Unreal Engine 5. The sequel was part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog November 2025 lineup for anyone who wants to catch up before the finale.
The Talos Principle 3 takes place in a location called the Anomaly, described as the only place in the universe where the laws of physics don’t work as they should. Players take on the role of an explorer awakening in a world of crumbling temples and abandoned science outposts, with fragmented memories and a vague sense of having come there for a reason. Croteam says the game will span more than a dozen worlds with all-new puzzle mechanics, and the developer has framed the trilogy as one continuous story told across three chapters rather than three separate games sharing a title.

The Xbox and Switch 2 omission is the one thing worth flagging here. Both prior Talos Principle games released on Xbox, and Reawakened launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC last year. Cutting Xbox out of the finale is a strange call for a series that’s been cross platform for over a decade, though it’s possible Croteam and Devolver Digital simply haven’t finalized those versions yet and will announce them later. For now, though, the only confirmed platforms are PlayStation 5 and PC.
We’ll have to wait for more details on a specific release date and what those new puzzle mechanics actually look like, but at least we know The Talos Principle’s epic saga is finally getting its closer. Considering the original released over a decade ago and the developers have been thinking about this ending since before the first game shipped, it should be quite the finale.
