After a delay, Netmarble has announced a new release date for The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin. The game is now set to launch first on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on March 16, before going live on mobile on March 23. It was originally slated to launch on January 28, but it was delayed less than two weeks before launch. Netmarble said it was due to feedback it received from its Closed Beta Test, but I find it hard to believe Arknights: Endfield’s January 22 release didn’t impact the decision to delay.
With a launch in March, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin has a chance to be a better game. It’ll also be outside the launch window of Arknights: Endfield, and it has a better chance of capturing those players, too. That’s especially true if they’ve already gotten bored of Arknights: Endfield.
We’re looking forward to The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, but at the same time, we know what Netmarble does to its mobile games. It’ll be interesting to see if the company has changed its monetization practices to be more in line with modern gacha games, especially since this one is targeting the Genshin Impact audience.
