Capcom recently announced that the latest entry in the renowned Street Fighter franchise has sold over three million units worldwide as of January 3, 2024. The announcement comes a little over six months after the game passed the two million mark. Released in June 2023, I mentioned in my Street Fighter 6 review that the game serves as the Monster Hunter World of the Street Fighter series, especially with its single-player World Tour mode that attracts newcomers.

In the press release, Capcom credits its growing sales to various factors, including esports involvement like Capcom Pro Tour 2023, collaborations, and the addition of new characters and costumes, such as The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration. Street Fighter 6 has picked up a few awards this season, including Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards 2023. In total, the Street Fighter series has sold over 52 million units worldwide.
