Valve is giving the Steam store homepage a facelift, and PC gamers can try it out right now by opting into the latest Steam Client Beta. The updated design focuses on making it easier to find new games by displaying more content, higher resolution artwork, and a wider, more responsive layout for higher resolution monitors. Steam Deck and Big Picture mode users will also see the changes.
The biggest additions include micro-trailers that play when you hover over a game’s cover art in the Featured and Recommended section, giving you a quick look at gameplay without clicking through to the store page. Valve also added new sections for wishlisted games on sale and discounted DLC for games already in your library, both of which are long overdue quality-of-life features. The Discovery Queue has been updated so you can browse titles without leaving the page, and the overall design pulls everything into a more cohesive look after years of piecemeal additions. Players with motion sensitivity can disable micro-trailer hovers and animated marketing assets in Store Settings.
If you’re not already in the Steam Client Beta, you can opt in through your Steam desktop client settings. This is a beta feature, so expect Valve to iterate on the design based on player feedback before rolling it out to everyone.
