Looks like you can take Star Fox for a test flight before launch: Nintendo announced at the latest Nintendo Direct that a free demo is hitting the Nintendo eShop later today, ahead of the game’s June 25 release on Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo bills Star Fox as a cinematic take on Star Fox 64, and as our reveal coverage detailed, the cast has been given overhauled designs to go with revamped stage looks, detailed cutscenes, fully voiced dialogue, and a sweeping orchestral soundtrack. The core mission to save the Lylat System is still there, joined by new modes that include online multiplayer.

Taking advantage of the Switch 2 hardware, the game adds optional mouse-controlled targeting with the Joy-Con 2 and a new GameChat feature that puts you in the cockpit as your favorite Star Fox characters.
