If you’ve been itching for another tabletop-inspired RPG since finishing Baldur’s Gate 3, Solasta II might be worth keeping an eye on. Developer Tactical Adventures, the team behind Solasta: Crown of the Magister, has launched the sequel into Early Access on Steam today for $39.99 with a 10 percent launch discount.

Solasta II is a turn-based tactical RPG built on the 2024 Dungeons & Dragons ruleset, making it one of the few games to implement the updated version of those rules. Players create a party of four adopted siblings who are reunited following the death of their mother, only to be drawn into an ancestral conflict on the continent of Neokos. The Early Access build covers the majority of Act 1, which Tactical Adventures says offers around 10 to 15 hours of gameplay, with a level cap of four.

At launch, there are six playable classes (Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Rogue, Sorcerer, and Wizard) across 13 subclasses, with four ancestries to choose from: Dwarf, Elf, Halfling, and Human. The game features a hex-based world map where players explore uncharted territory, with hidden encounters, timed events, and random elite boss spawns. All player character dialogue is fully voiced, and key NPCs are performed by some recognizable talent, including Amelia Tyler (Baldur’s Gate 3, Hades II), Ben Starr (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Final Fantasy XVI), Devora Wilde (Baldur’s Gate 3, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33), and Ellen Thomas (Arcane, Doctor Who).

It’s worth noting that Solasta II is being developed by a core team of fewer than 40 people, which makes the scope of the project pretty ambitious. Tactical Adventures plans to stay in Early Access for about a year, with multiplayer, additional classes, more ancestries, and level cap increases all on the roadmap. Console versions targeting PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are planned for the 1.0 launch.
