The long-awaited SimCity Offline mode update is available today that will allow Mayors to play SimCity anytime and anywhere without the need of an Internet connection. The SimCity Update 10 will be free to all owners of the game for both PC and Mac as well as future players. Naturally, an Internet connection is required in order to download the patch. In addition, all previously purchased DLC will be available for use in single-player, offline mode.
In single-player mode, players will be able to build multiple cities with access to all region maps. What’s not available in single-player mode are Leaderboards, Citylog, Achievements, Friends List, Player Profile, the Region Wall and Region Invites. The Global Market is available offline, but prices are fixed.
Cities and regions built offline can not be transferred to multiplayer and vice-versa. It’s worth mentioning that autosave will be on by default and will save your region every 10 minutes. In addition, your region will automatically be saved if you quit the region or switch to another city in the region. So for players that want to test things out in each city, it’s recommended that they turn off autosave.
