Mac owners will finally be able to get their hands on SimCity starting on August 29, EA has announced. Originally planned for a June release, SimCity on OSX was delayed so EA could work out some “quality” issues. Nonetheless, it’ll finally be available later this month as a digital release only and will be cross-platform so PC and Mac players can play together. Current owners of the game will also be able to download it through Origin onto their Mac for no extra charge, and can jump back and forth between platforms to play their cities.
The latest SimCity title is the series’ sixth major release and was originally released on the PC on March 5, 2013. The launch was disastrous to say the least, with server issues and players unable to connect to even play the game. Even Amazon temporarily stopped selling SimCity in the week after release.
