Rob Pardo, Blizzard Entertainment’s chief creative officer has decided to leave the company after 17 years. Earlier today, Pardo made a lengthy post on the official Battle.net forums announcing his departure. Pardo has not yet announced what the future holds and stated that his “priorities are to enjoy the summer with my family, play plenty of games, and think about what’s next.”
Pardo joined Blizzard Entertainment in 1997 and his design credits include the StarCraft, StarCraft: Brood War, Warcraft 3, Diablo III and more. He was working on the next World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor which will be released later this year and recently entered its closed beta.
“I’m looking forward to new challenges in my career, but I will always cherish the time I spent with you all and the amazing and collaborative teams at Blizzard,” said Pardo. “It was both satisfying and humbling, and it made me a better developer and a better person. I look forward to playing Blizzard games as a player for many years to come. Most important, now I have plenty of time to learn how to build a competitive Hearthstone deck.”
