Blizzard Entertainment has trademarked “The Dark Below,” hinting at either an upcoming World of Warcraft expansion or Diablo III expansion. The trademark was filed for “computer game software, computer game software downloadable from a global computer network, downloadable computer game software via a global computer network and wireless devices, downloadable electronic games via the internet and wireless devices.”
While common sense would point to this being an expansion for Diablo III, many have speculated that the term lends itself more to World of Warcraft‘s lore. But then again, Gamescom is just around the corner and the company promised a reveal at the event that will “capture the attention of the Heavens, Burning Hells, and all the shadowed places that lie between.” Either way, we’ll know more soon.
Updated: Blizzard has announced Reaper of Souls as the title for its Diablo III expansion, which means The Dark Below will likely be the next World of Warcraft expansion.
