Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy now has a release date, with Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio confirming an August 27, 2026 launch during the XBOX Games Showcase. The prequel to the A Plague Tale saga first surfaced at last year’s showcase, and this year’s appearance paired the date with a new look at the game. Rather than continuing the story of past entries, Resonance shifts to a new lead in Sophia, following her own journey to uncover the secrets of her past.
The game is set 15 years before the events of the A Plague Tale series, with Sophia cast as a young and fierce plunderer drawn to the distant shores of the Minotaur’s Island, a place that has called to her since childhood. The companions she once tried to leave behind are never far off, and as she digs into the truth about her family’s ties to the island, she leans on her friend Leni to get through its dangers and trials. Deeper in the island, Sophia also crosses paths with an unexpected ally, a mythic hero pulled from the oldest legends.
Set at the crossroads between the Middle Ages and the Minoan era, Resonance is backed by a new score from composer Olivier Derivière, with more soundtrack details promised soon. Preorders are open now, priced at $49.99 on Steam and $59.99 on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S. Every preorder includes the Heritage Pack DLC, which unlocks the Minoan Sword and Alec’s Pendant in-game items along with a digital artbook running more than 30 pages.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches August 27 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It arrives day one on XBOX Game Pass and supports XBOX Play Anywhere.
