Less than a year on the market, the Nintendo Wii U Deluxe 32 GB console will be getting a permanent price drop to $299.99 starting on September 20, 2013 – the same day that The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will be available for download on the Nintendo eShop for $49.99. Nintendo made no mention about the Wii U Basic Set, but we imagine it’s not long for this world considering that the Deluxe Set will be at the same price.
Those looking to get their hands on a Nintendo Wii U Deluxe should not only want to wait until September 20, but will probably want to jump on the limited edition bundle that includes a digital copy of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for the same price of $299.99.
The Nintendo Wii U has had weak sales this year, with only 160,000 units being reported in Nintendo’s first quarter earnings report. With both the next-generation Xbox One and PlayStation 3 coming out in November, Nintendo basically had no choice but to drop the price of its Wii U in hopes of boosting sales for the console.
The Nintendo Wii U was originally released in North America on November 18, 2012.
