Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is leaving Early Access with a full 1.0 launch on September 2, arriving on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC, with day one availability on XBOX Game Pass. Digital Sun is celebrating the announcement by making the original Moonlighter free to claim on Steam from August 5 through August 9, and a demo for the sequel is available now on all platforms.

The sequel follows Will, the merchant and adventurer who splits his time between dungeon crawling and running a village shop, and it entered Early Access in November 2025. When it hit Game Pass as a day one Game Preview release that month, I noted the sequel builds on the original Moonlighter and looks to be better in every way. Two major content updates landed during the Early Access run: Greed and Glory added the HEX combat path, Blo-Blitz dual guns, and the wave-based Greed Colosseum, while Blob-Life Balance brought Bloblet shop companions, a stackable Poison Path, new weapons, and a Very Hard difficulty mode.

Version 1.0 brings the main story to its conclusion and introduces new weapons, armor, and the Bomb Path, a combat ability that causes enemies to explode after taking enough hits and damage anything nearby. Will’s shop reaches its final level as well, unlocking additional Bloblet slots, new cosmetic options, and more room to build out the town of Tresna.

Players who finish the story can move on to the Infinite Endless Vault, a postgame mode built around an escalating gauntlet of gold-filled runs. A new Hardcore mode pushes things further, sending you back to the very beginning if you fall in the dungeon.

Preorders are open now on PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 ahead of the September 2 launch. Anyone who wants to see where Will’s story started has until August 9 to grab the original on Steam at no cost.
