Given the popularity of the Monster Hunter: World x Final Fantasy XIV events in their respective games, it was only a matter of time before one was announced for Monster Hunter Wilds. During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, Capcom’s Ryozo Tsujimoto and Square Enix’s Naoki Yoshida took the stage to share details of a new collaboration between Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy XIV. First heading to Monster Hunter Wilds in Title Update 3 this September, the event will bring Chocobos and Cactaurs to the Forbidden Lands, while hunters take on Omega Planetes in a new narrative quest.
In return, Final Fantasy XIV will host its Monster Hunter Wilds event in early October, with the Guardian Arkveld appearing in a new questline. I expect it will be similar to the Rathalos Hunt from the Monster Hunter: World collaboration, with numerous Monster Hunter–themed mechanics added to the fight. The teaser trailer shows our lovable derplander riding a Seikret mount, but there will likely be other cosmetics and items available as rewards for the event.
While I definitely had fun with Monster Hunter Wilds earlier this year, the PC performance issues were frustrating enough that I dropped the game sooner than I expected. Meanwhile, I consider Final Fantasy XIV one of the best games I’ve ever played, even if Dawntrail is a bit of a letdown after the amazing Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions.
