The Senses toggles Insomniac Games said it was exploring are now in Marvel’s Wolverine, arriving in a second post-launch hotfix that adds on and off switches for Whisky Bottle Scent Trails, Material Crate Audio Clues, and Nightmare Door Roots. The first hotfix on September 19 only reduced the opacity of the Scent Trails and Audio Sense indicators following complaints about how prominent they were, and Insomniac said at the time that toggleable options were being considered for a later update. Story-critical Senses will still appear in the world regardless of the settings, so this isn’t a complete off switch.
In my review, I called the Scent Trails and the giant signals pinging crate locations a bit annoying, and I said it was really wild that Insomniac didn’t let you toggle them off at all, even after the first hotfix dialed them back. The new options address both of those, since the whisky bottle trails and the crate audio clues are the collectible guidance I was describing. The other issues I raised in the review, like the quick-time events that don’t matter and the motorcycle chase sections where failing has no real consequence, aren’t part of this update.
The rest of the hotfix is bug work, starting with several crashes Insomniac tracked down through crash logs and community reports. It also fixes players getting stuck while sliding down a tree in “The One That Got Away” mission, misaligned claws in Photo Mode, and a rare issue where objects could turn white after extended play sessions. An overlapping bathroom sign in the casino caused by a UV mapping issue has been fixed as well, and the full hotfix notes are below.
