For decades now, Mario has been rescuing Princess Peach from castle to castle, game to game from the evil Bowser. And now, Nintendo has released an image on its official Super Smash Bros. website that will surely cause some curiosity amongst Nintendo gamers. Is Mario finally going to pop the big question? Is this just a gimmick to trick us? And why is it going on Peach’s middle finger? And what does this have to do with beating one another up?

Then again, this could be a screenshot of Peach taking the ring off her finger before smashing Mario in the face for letting her get kidnapped time and time again.

Peach was recently confirmed to be a playable character in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and the 2DS / 3DS platforms. The game currently has a planned release date in 2014.
