The gaming world is healing as Nintendo was somehow the one to get a new Kingdom Hearts IV trailer during a summer of amazing gaming announcements. It’s clear now that Square Enix is embracing multiplatform releases, letting Nintendo have a moment with one of the most highly anticipated games of the decade (if it even comes out this decade) instead of Sony.

Kingdom Hearts IV, the next installment in the action RPG series developed and published by Square Enix, got a new trailer during the latest Nintendo Direct. The game follows Sora and familiar faces as they journey through the mysterious city of Quadratum, where Sora once again travels to various worlds, crosses paths with new figures, and awakens new powers. It is set to launch on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with more details promised in the future.

Square Enix also announced Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III], which gathers Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC) into one bundle. It marks the first time those titles are available natively on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via the Microsoft Store. The collection arrives October 8, 2026, with preorders live now across all platforms. For anyone new to the series, Square Enix has outlined a recommended play order, since all of it can be pretty overwhelming.
