Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak has been officially announced and will be released on PC January 20, 2016. As the name hints, the new Homeworld story takes players to the deserts of Kharak where danger lurks behind every dune. Led by chief science officer Rachel S’jet, the Coalition of the Northern Kiithid sends an expedition deep within enemy-controlled territory to investigate the finding, which could forever alter the fate of humanity.

The game will feature an origin story, where players will travel across an exciting campaign in the prequel from some of the original creators of Homeworld and Homeworld 2. Players will be able to take control of fleets occupying both land and air to conquer the desert, which will feature massive environments filled with deep craters and vast hostile canyons. Like previous Homeworld games, expect robust tactical combat filled with strategic decisions that will directly impact your chances of survival.
The game is currently available for pre-order on Steam for $49.99 and those that pre-order will get Homeworld Remastered Collection for free.
