In September 2025, Nintendo did the most Nintendo thing imaginable. It announced that Virtual Boy is being added to Nintendo Classics, bringing one of the company’s biggest disasters to a new audience. For those who never heard of Virtual Boy, it originally released in 1995 and support ended just a year later. Back then, you could rent one, which I did, and I still remember wondering what the point of it all was. For some strange reason, Nintendo wants everyone to experience Virtual Boy through the Switch or Switch 2 by using one of two accessories. The first is a $99.99 accessory that resembles the original Virtual Boy, while the other is a more affordable cardboard version for $24.99.

Of course, I couldn’t help myself, and I did order the $99.99 Virtual Boy replica because I want to relive that experience I had decades ago. Nintendo has now revealed the initial lineup of Virtual Boy titles that will be available on February 17 to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. Those games are:

  • Teleroboxer
  • Galactic Pinball
  • Red Alarm
  • Golf
  • Virtual Boy Wario Land
  • 3-D Tetris
  • The Mansion of Innsmouth

This is just the beginning, as more games will roll out in the future. But considering there was 22 officially released Virtual Boy games, we wouldn’t be surprised if they were all eventually playable through Nintendo Classics.
