Guild Wars 2 is the Fastest-Selling MMORPG in History

ArenaNet has announced that Guild Wars 2 has entered the record books as the fastest-selling MMORPG in Europe and North America. The data comes from DFC Intelligence, a strategic market research and consulting firm that focuses on interactive entertainment. In the first nine months of availability, Guild Wars 2 has sold more than three-million copies and is expected to see rapid growth once it’s released in China. ArenaNet also announced a free trial period for players that haven’t yet checked out Guild Wars 2; it starts Friday, August 23 at 12:01 AM PT and runs until August 25 at 11:59 PM PT.

Coincidentally, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn‘s official release date is August 27, perhaps ArenaNet is trying to persuade some players to check out Guild Wars 2 instead.
