The Guild Wars 2 expansion Heart of Thorns will be released October 23, 2015. Currently available for pre-order, Heart of Thorns will take place in the Heart of Maguuma, a brand new jungle area that features three distinct biomes. The expansion will add the Mastery system to the game, an endgame, account-based PvP progression system. As part of the new system, players will earn mastery points as they explore the map, complete quests and other activities and can then spend those points on abilities across characters for their PvP account.

Also being introduced in Heart of Thorns are Specializations that give existing classes access to new skills and weapons. Players can also look forward to the new Revenant profession, a new World vs. World Borderland map and the competitive PvP Stronghold mode, where players will fight for control of supplies, recruit troops and attack the enemy’s stronghold.

The game will also receive Guild Halls as social places for players to get together and organize questing or PvP outings.

Guild Wars 2 was originally released for the PC in summer 2012 and has sold over five-million units to date. Expect more news on Heart of Thorns to be released this weekend at PAX Prime 2015.
