The latest content update for ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2 has gone live, titled Cutthroat Politics. An exciting new twist has been introduced to the MMO, where players can now bring about permanent changes to the world of Tyria through voting for a new councilor. Cutthroat Politics is the second update to Guild Wars 2 since ArenaNet announced its move to a two-week update schedule for the game.
Two weeks of new events, activities, features, and rewards starts today, as players will choose to support either war hero Ellen Kiel or prominent merchant Evon Gnashblade to take over the vacancy on the Captain’s Council of Lion’s Arch. From now until August 5, players will choose to support their candidate of choice.
Other new activities introduced in today’s update include Southsun Survival, where players will scheme, kill, and scavenge their way to the top in a new competitive activity. Face off against other players in a battle to be the last one standing in order to earn karma and coins for each round played. There’s also a rare chance at an exclusive Back Item.
A new PvP activity has also been introduced, called the Aspect Arena, where players will choose one of the Aspects of Sun, Wind, or Lightning, and face off in teams to collect crystals. Each Aspect grants different skills for battle with karma and coins rewarded for each round played. Similar to Southsun Survival, players will also have the rare chance of winning an exclusive Back Item.
Lastly, players can now enter the Candidate Trials to support their chosen candidate. Venture in alone or with a group to face off against waves of Aetherblade pirates, holding out for as long as you can to earn Support Tokens and loot. The Candidate Trials Challenge also gives players a rare chance at an Aetherized weapon.
Guild Wars 2 is available exclusively on the PC and Mac.
