During today’s Letter from the Producer Live broadcast, the Final Fantasy XIV team confirmed Patch 6.4, The Dark Throne, will arrive May 23. To give us a glimpse of what to expect with the patch, the official trailer has been released, which you can watch below. If you have been playing Final Fantasy XIV over the years, you know what to expect on major patches, which alternate specific content between odd- and even-numbered updates.
For Patch 6.4, Warriors of Light will get new Main Scenario Quests, the final series of the Pandæmonium raid (Pandæmonium: Anabaseios), a new dungeon called the Aetherfont, a new trial called The Voidcast Dais where players will face off against Golbez in both Normal and Extreme difficulties, as well as a new Unreal Trial against Zurvan in Containment Bay Z1T9 (Unreal). Tataru’s Grand Endeavour also continues, along with updates to the Duty Support System for several Stormblood main scenario dungeons including The Sirensong Sea, Bardam’s Mettle, Doma Castle, Castrum Abania, and Ala Mhigo.
Patch 6.4 also adds updates to Ocean Fishing, Island Sanctuary, and PVP. Players will also get a new Allagan tomestone currency, some UI updates, and the ability to glamour Scholar faeries.
As usual, more features will follow with Patch 6.45, including an update to the Blue Mage class with a level cap increase to 80. Mount Rokkon will serve as a new Variant and Criterion Dungeon, and Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures will continue, which means upgrades to the Manderville Relic Weapons. Crafters will also get access to the next tier of Splenderous Tools in Patch 6.45.
While I’m looking forward to the new content Patch 6.4 will bring, the below trailer has me excited to hear even more Final Fantasy IV-themed music with the Final Fantasy XIV touch. Maybe something new will end up on my list of the best songs from Final Fantasy XIV.
