Updated: The press release mistakenly said 45 FPS but the game runs at 30 FPS. The article has been updated to reflect that change.
Switch 2 owners who have been asking Rockfish Games for their favorite space game are getting their wish today, with Everspace 2: Galactic Edition now available on the platform for $49.99. The digital-only bundle packs everything in one purchase, combining Everspace 2 with both of its expansions, Titans and Wrath of the Ancients, plus the Everspace 2 Supporter Pack.
The port runs at a capped 30 FPS and carries the full experience, with more than 50 hours of story and side content spread across 10 star systems and over 120 handcrafted locations filled with challenges and secrets. Rockfish Games CEO and co-founder Michael Schade credited studio partner Engine Software for finding clever ways to optimize the premium PC title for Nintendo’s latest hardware, saying the community had asked time and again to play the series on Switch 2. The game is fully voiced in English and German and localized in 13 languages, and Wrath of the Ancients won Best Audio at the Deutscher Computerspielpreis.
For players on other platforms, Schade says a final optimization and bug fix update arrives later this fall. That closes out the roadmap for a game that has made the rounds since its 2023 launch, including joining Game Pass in October 2024.
Content plans for Everspace 2 may be wrapped, but Rockfish Games isn’t done with the universe. The studio recently received an eight million euro grant from the German government to develop a new title within the Everspace franchise, and Schade says it will be a while before a reveal, adding, “I can’t wait to show our community of space game fans the incredibly exciting things we’ve been working on.”
