Emberville Demo Now Live Ahead of October 27 Early Access
Emberville’s first demo is live during Steam Next Fest through October 26, and progress carries over to the October 27 Early Access launch.
If you’ve been curious about Emberville but wanted to try it before committing to its Early Access launch, Cygnus Cross released the game’s first public demo today as part of Steam Next Fest. The demo covers the prologue and will remain available through October 26, when the October 2026 edition of Next Fest ends. Any progress made in the demo carries over to the Early Access version, which launches the following day, October 27, 2026, on Steam and GOG.
The game opens with your character waking up in the Vitromotus, a vast underground prison, with no memory of how they got there. After surviving an initial trip through the darkness, you reach what’s left of the town of Emberville. From there, your job is to rebuild the town and rescue its people, who are scattered throughout the Vitromotus, while dealing with whatever is lurking down there.
Emberville is an action RPG where expeditions into the Vitromotus feed back into rebuilding the town above. Each rescued NPC can potentially unlock new systems, classes, crafting options, abilities, and storylines. Combat uses a two-button system with weapon-bound combos and class-specific skills. Through what Cygnus Cross calls Inherited Skills, you can carry abilities learned from leveling one class into another, giving you more freedom to customize your active class.

Progression also involves leveling weapon and armor categories to unlock new classes, learning gathering and crafting skills, and exploring a world with distinct biomes, encounters, and events. Outside of combat, there’s farming for crops, gathering for plants, wood, and minerals, and a personal estate where you can freely place houses, buildings, and decorations. Some of these structures also support crafting and skill development.
Cygnus Cross added 18 names to the voice cast back in July, bringing the roster to 22 performers. The lineup includes Doug Cockle, Amelia Tyler, Alex Jordan, Abubakar Salim, Matthew Mercer, Jennifer English, Ben Starr, Nick Apostolides, Jane Perry, Elias Toufexis, Anjali Bhimani, LilyPichu, Briana White, and Dillon Francis, among others. Starr voiced Clive in Final Fantasy XVI, while White plays Aerith in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy.
Cygnus Cross is also handling publishing itself, and the Steam page lists Emberville as single-player. The studio has discussed the possibility of adding co-op for version 1.0, but nothing has been confirmed. The planned price is $29.99, with a 10 percent discount at the Early Access launch, and the studio says the base price won’t increase when the game reaches its full release. Steam currently estimates around 18 months in Early Access, although that could change based on development and community feedback.
The demo is live now on Steam, and the GOG page is up ahead of the October 27 launch.
