Sony has revealed that The Elder Scrolls Online won’t require a PlayStation Plus membership as PlayStation 4 gamers will simply have to pay the monthly subscription fee that Bethesda will be charging to play the game. In addition, Sony and Bethesda shared more information about the upcoming MMORPG, revealing that the European and North American servers will be split, while PS4 players will also be on separate servers than PC players.
The team is working on playing with different configurations to take advantage of the PS4’s DualShock controller, including the touchpad and making sure that the game can be played comfortably with the controller.
While The Elder Scrolls Online has been in beta on the PC for quite some time now, no beta date has been confirmed for the PS4 version.
The Elder Scrolls Online will be released on April 4, 2014 for PC and Mac while the PS4 and Xbox One versions will be released sometime in June.
Previously, Bethesda announced that it was working with Microsoft to not require Xbox Live to play The Elder Scrolls Online. Now that Sony has made the decision to not allow a PS Plus subscription, it’ll be interesting to see if Microsoft follows in its footsteps.
