The frigid expanse of Norgan is the star of a new Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen gameplay overview, which walks through the Relic Expedition Cycle players will run when the expansion arrives October 9. Capcom paired the video with a free title update for the base game that brings framerate improvements, extra save slots, and an expanded number of assignable weapon skills, an update the company first outlined back in June. The update is live now.
The walkthrough opens at the Norgandian Settlement, the lone bastion of peace in a region that was once prosperous and richly populated, with all that remains of that civilization being timeworn relics of an ancient war guarded by monsters or buried in the frost-covered wastes. Surviving treks beyond the settlement walls means preparing properly, from stocking provisions and enhancing gear to resting without fear of enemy incursions, and each safe return brings new gear and skills that cut closer to the mystery at the heart of Norgan.
There’s plenty of local enemies to worry about. Beorcan warriors attack anyone who approaches their smoldering firepits, the Norgan Giant can entomb adversaries in ice with a single breath, and the ice dragon Fimbl holds relics of even more profound potential. Fighting isn’t the only path to power, though, since curiosity pays off in the region’s abandoned settlements and caves, and the settlement’s resident direwolf Freki can guide the Arisen to spoils for a price. Gathered relics only reveal their true potential once appraised by Jiera, the settlement’s matron, and while certain relics may look similar, their final forms can differ wildly, with weapons and armor gaining stats based on the original relic’s rarity and potentially bestowing new abilities or refining skills the Arisen and their Pawn already possess.
As a refresher, the Dark Arisen Expansion locked in its October 9 date at the June Capcom Spotlight, priced at $29.99 for existing owners on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The full Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen package, which bundles the base game with the expansion, arrives the same day for $49.99 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC via Steam, marking the game’s Switch 2 debut. Preordering nets the Norgan Fashion Set – Northern Attire, accessible from in-game storage at launch, and the expansion will also be on the show floor at Tokyo Game Show 2026 later this month.
