The first eight games of the Dragon Quest series will be heading to Android and iOS, Square Enix has revealed on a new website. The highly successful RPG franchise was originally developed by Enix, before it became Squaresoft’s property and both companies created Square Enix.
When Dragon Quest first made its appearance in North America, it went under the name of Dragon Warrior to avoid a trademark conflict. Square Enix wasn’t unable to register the Dragon Quest trademark in the U.S. until 2002.
It’s unknown if all eight Dragon Quest games will make it to Stateside for mobile platforms, but we would be shocked if it didn’t. Square Enix has gone out of its way in the past couple of years to re-release its Final Fantasy games on mobile, so it’s no surprise that Dragon Quest is getting the same treatment.
