Capcom came to today’s Nintendo Direct with three announcements, and the headliner is a date and a price for Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2. We’ve known since June that the game was coming to Nintendo’s console, and it now launches on December 4, 2026 at $39.99 for the Standard Edition on the Nintendo eShop, matching the permanent price cut the game got elsewhere in August. Digital preorders open October 19, and anyone who preorders before December 3 gets the Standard Edition for $29.99 as an early adopter discount. A Gold Edition with the base game and cosmetic DLC is $79.99, the physical Deluxe Edition with the Deluxe Pack cosmetics is $39.99, and a free Prologue Demo is coming before launch.
The Switch 2 version includes every Title Update to date, so the Grand Hub, Lagiacrus, and the Final Fantasy XIV Online collaboration are all in from day one, with full cross-play and local wireless play between Switch 2 systems. Capcom also says Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is planned for 2027 on Switch 2. When I covered the Ascendance trailer last week, the platform list stopped at PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC, and I noted Capcom hadn’t said anything about the expansion on Nintendo’s hardware. That’s now settled, minus a date. In my review, I said Wilds made just the right amount of changes to keep combat fresh and familiar, but performance and crashes on PC were my biggest complaint, and Capcom hasn’t shared resolution or frame rate targets for Switch 2 yet.

On the Resident Evil side, Capcom is bringing the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 to Switch 2 starting October 16, specifically as Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition, with the Deluxe and Gold versions carrying over their extra content. These are RE Engine versions running natively, which matters for anyone who remembers the original Switch getting Resident Evil 2 and 3 as cloud-only releases. Preorders are open with an early adopter discount: Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition currently $29.99 ($39.99 standard), Resident Evil 3 currently $19.79 ($29.99 standard), and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition currently $39.99 ($49.99 standard). Once these arrive, every mainline Resident Evil is playable on Switch 2, joining Resident Evil Requiem, Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition, and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which launched together in February, plus the upcoming Resident Evil Veronica. Capcom’s wording is “starting on October 16,” which reads like the three may not all land the same day.
The third item is Mega Man: Dual Override, which Capcom has narrowed from 2027 to spring 2027 and paired with a closer look at Proto Man following his gamescom gameplay debut last month. Where Mega Man works from range, Proto Man is built around close-quarters attacks and charging through stages, with a heat gauge to manage so he doesn’t overheat mid-fight. Both characters share the Override system, which temporarily pushes their abilities past their normal limits, and both use the Custom Chip system for equipping upgrades. Capcom also revealed Mega Man and Proto Man amiibo, the first for the series, set to release alongside the game with functionality and timing still to come. Mega Man: Dual Override launches in spring 2027 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, XBOX One, XBOX Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. All three games are on Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show slate later this month, so expect more before the year is out.
