With Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced due out next week, Ubisoft has confirmed the remake will be Steam Deck Verified right at launch. That means it should run well enough on Valve’s handheld out of the box, with the default settings, controller icons, and text all sized for the Deck. The game is out on July 9, and the Steam extras are in place from day one too, including Steam Achievements and Steam Collectibles like virtual trading cards, profile backgrounds, badges, and emoticons.

Beyond the Steam Deck, Ubisoft is pushing the same visual features across every version of the game. Resynced is a ground-up rebuild on the newer Anvil engine, the same one behind Assassin’s Creed Shadows. To be clear, this is a remake, not just a remaster. It adds ray-traced lighting and reflections, a dynamic weather system, and a Caribbean rebuilt with current hardware in mind. Since the remake is current-gen only, it’s only available on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC with no PlayStation 4 or Switch 2 version in the mix.

Resynced runs $59.99, and on PC it’s sold through Steam, the Ubisoft Store, and the Epic Games Store. Preordering nets the Blackbeard’s Crimson Pack, which bundles a costume for Edward along with a sword and a pistol that carry their own perks. The Steam Deck is a platform we’ve spent plenty of time with, so a major Ubisoft release being verified on day one is worth noting for anyone who plays portable. For those planning to sail the Jackdaw from a handheld, you should be good to go.
