We’ve known Ubisoft has been working on a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for a while, and now it’s finally getting a proper reveal. Ubisoft announced that a dedicated showcase for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will air this Thursday, April 23 at 9:00 AM Pacific (12:00 PM Eastern), streaming on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel and Twitch.
The project was basically confirmed back in March when Jean Guesdon, the franchise’s head of content, shared an update on what’s next for Assassin’s Creed in 2026. Ubisoft dropped key art at the time but stopped short of a full reveal. For context on why this matters, the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag surpassed 34 million players back in 2023, which helps explain why Ubisoft has been taking its time getting the remake right.
Black Flag is widely regarded as one of the high points of the franchise, thanks largely to its pirate-era setting and naval combat. If the remake can modernize everything without losing what made the original stick, there’s a real chance this becomes one of the bigger releases on Ubisoft’s 2026 slate, if it lands this year. We’ll find out just how far the team has taken things on Thursday.
