Another thing that wasn’t on our 2026 Bingo card. Among Us is getting a single-player spin-off in Among Us Story: On Guard, which Innersloth revealed at Summer Game Fest yesterday, trading the series’ multiplayer social deduction for a narrative murder mystery. Players take on the role of Guard, the Crewmate in charge of shipwide security in MIRA’s new training program, tasked with getting everyone to their destination safely.
A free demo goes live on June 15, timed to the Among Us birthday celebration, so the wait to actually try it is short. The game is on Steam for wishlisting now and is headed to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with Innersloth saying more platforms are likely later. There’s no price or release date yet.
Everything runs smoothly aboard the ship until an Impostor starts killing Crewmates, which is where the player comes in. Proving your own innocence and identifying the killer before it reaches the rest of the crew is the core of it, and tasks still have to be completed throughout, both to make progress and to surface clues.
How the story resolves comes down to how players investigate, with three different endings to uncover inside the simulation. Innersloth has said outright that On Guard won’t be a long game, describing a shorter, replayable experience rather than a sprawling campaign. Players meet a cast of Crewmates along the way, from the cynical Guard they control to a cook, scientist, engineer, doctor, and captain, any of whom could turn out to be the Impostor.
