The Fun Pimps, the studio behind 7 Days to Die, has been acquired by Behaviour Interactive, the developer known for Dead by Daylight. Despite the acquisition, The Fun Pimps will continue to lead development on 7 Days to Die as they always have, just with more resources and a larger team to work with.

7 Days to Die has one of those development stories that sounds too good to be true. Two brothers came up with the idea at a Thanksgiving dinner table back in 2012, and 13 years later, the game has sold over 20 million copies. It’s one of the most enduring survival games on PC, and despite spending years in Early Access before its 1.0 launch, the community stuck with it through the entire journey. That kind of loyalty doesn’t happen by accident. We’ve been playing 7 Days to Die for years and still revisit it every year to see how it has changed. With hundreds of hours logged, we still consider it one of the best crafting survival games we’ve ever played.

The Fun Pimps said the partnership means more support for the game moving forward, with plans to grow the team and deliver more content. The studio’s vision, team, and community focus remain unchanged. A Reddit AMA is scheduled for March 25 at r/7daystodie, where players can submit questions ahead of time and get answers live during the session.

For Behaviour Interactive, this is another acquisition that expands its portfolio beyond Dead by Daylight. The company has been steadily growing, and picking up a studio with a 20 million-copy survival game is a smart move. Whether this means bigger updates, new content, or even a sequel down the line remains to be seen, but for now, it sounds like business as usual for 7 Days to Die with a bigger budget behind it, hopefully.
