Sony has released details on the PlayStation 4 1.50 software update, which will be available immediately in North America when the console launches on November 15, 2013. As was previously explained by the company in its lengthy FAQ, the update will automatically download in the background as soon as the console has an Internet connection, and users will be able to play offline, single-player games while it does.

The PlayStation 4 1.50 software update will add many features to the console at its launch and will be approximately 300 MB in size. Most of the features detailed in the PlayStation 4 1.50 software update are already features that gamers expected to be available at launch including Remote Play and Second Screen.

As was previously explained, Remote Play will allow PlayStation 4 gamers to play their games on the PlayStation Vita over WiFi networks by using PS4 Link. Sony anticipates that most PS4 titles will be playable on the PS Vita through Remote Play. As for Second Screen, the feature will allow PS4 users to interact with games through mobile devices.

Other features being added onto the PlayStation 4 1.50 software update include the ability to record, take screenshots and upload gameplay, broadcast and spectate gameplay, play as you download, multi log-in, party voice chat, face recognition and voice commands with the PlayStation Camera, background music player, online multiplayer (PlayStation Plus members only) and the ability to play Blu-ray and DVD discs on their console.

It’s worth mentioning that the PlayStation 4’s suspend/resume mode won’t be available when the console initially launches but will be coming in a later system update.
