Miss City of Heroes and/or City of Villains? The City of Titans Kickstarter project may be of interest to you. Previously known as The Phoenix Project, Missing Worlds Media has given its game a name and is billing it as a spiritual successor to City of Heroes.

City of Heroes was an MMORPG that was originally released on April 28, 2004 for the PC. After years of support and numerous updates, the Paragon Studios team was terminated by NCSoft and as a result, City of Heroes and its expansion, City of Villains, was shut down on November 30, 2012.

While the super-hero MMORPG clearly had a devoted and dedicated fan following, not very many games since have lived up to City of Heroes’ popularity. While there’s hardly a lack of games that have tried to copy City of Heroes‘ formula for success, such as Champions Online, they all seem to just be missing the charm that made City of Heroes so fun to play.

Here’s to hoping that City of Titans manages to fill that void. The project is asking for a modest goal of $320,000 and at the time of this writing has already garnered over $110,000 in funding with 32 days to go. The team promises to focus more on character “attitude” rather than skills or classes. As in, how or what do you want your superhero to do? Answer that question, and the game will give you the tools to do that.

If City of Titans does successfully get funded and created, it will be a game that will have microtransactions, but the team promises that it’ll be a good value for the money and it will not be pay-to-win. There will also be a VIP subscription offered that will grant subscribers a stipend for the cash shop of greater value than the cost of the subscription. Of course much of this is in its infant stages, but if you’re interested, hit the source link and contribute a few dollars.
