Earlier this year at the Google I/O conference, Google unveiled its Google Play Games services which was essentially Android’s answer to Apple’s Game Center on iOS. Today, Google announced the new Nexus 7, Android Jelly Bean 4.3, and the official launch of Google Play Games. The app, which is available to download now on the Google Play Store, hopes to give Android gaming a boost.
Features of the Google Play Games service includes cloud save, achievements, leaderboards, and easy multiplayer setup with other Android gamers. Players will also be able to see what their friends are playing and compare scores with other players. Among the first titles to take advantage of the Play Games app are Asphalt 8, Airborne, Riptide GP2, and Prince of Persia.
