Xbox Game Pass has announced the second wave of games that will be added in August 2023, joining the games that have already been added as part of the first wave. Starting today, Everspace 2, a fast-paced, single-player space shooter full of loot, puzzles, and perils, is available on Game Pass for Cloud and Xbox Series X|S. Firewatch makes a return to Game Pass on August 17. It’s a single-player, first-person mystery adventure set in the Wyoming wilderness. It’s a bit of a walking simulator-type game, but you will make interesting choices throughout the story.

A day later, on August 18, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (Cloud, Console, and PC) will be available Day One on Game Pass. Players take on the role of one of the notorious Slaughter family, or their victims, in a third-person asymmetrical horror experience based on the 1974 film. Think Dead by Daylight or Friday the 13th, but in the setting of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. We then have one of my more highly anticipated games for the year, Sea of Stars (Cloud, Console, and PC), which is also heading to PlayStation Plus Day One. This turn-based RPG is inspired by the classics and there’s a demo currently available so you can see what all the excitement is about.

Finally, Gris will be available on Cloud, Console, and PC starting September 5. It centers around the story of a hopeful young girl who is lost in her own world, as players experience her journey through sorrow that is manifested in her dress. Also, in case you missed it, Quake II got a remastered version and it’s available on Game Pass.

If you’ve somehow missed the fact that Starfield is releasing next month and will be on Xbox Game Pass Day One, here’s your reminder. But Game Pass members can save up to 10 percent on the Starfield Premium Edition Upgrade and play up to five days early, starting on September 1 on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. Those who upgrade will also get the Shattered Space Story Expansion upon release, the Constellation Skin Pack, and access to the Starfield Digital Artbook and Original Soundtrack.

The following games are leaving Xbox Game Pass on August 31. You can use your membership discount to save up to 20 percent if you want to purchase them and keep them in your library.

  • Black Desert (Cloud and Console)
  • Commandos 3 – HD Remaster (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Immortality (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Nuclear Throne (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Surgeon Simulator 2 (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Tinykin (Cloud, Console, and PC)
