Vampire Survivors’ eighth expansion launched today, with Legacy of the Bloodmoon hitting every platform the game is on for just $0.99. The expansion is available now on PlayStation, XBOX, Switch, Switch 2, mobile, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The expansion was revealed at June’s Future Games Show Summer Showcase, where poncle billed it as the game’s darkest expansion to date and the evil twin to 2022’s Legacy of the Moonspell, and the promised summer launch arrived with a few weeks to spare. According to poncle, the whole thing started as a Moonspell content update before growing into a full expansion. The story follows Malice Bloodmoon as she digs into the true history of Clan Bloodmoon, dark reflections who harness the might of the New Moon, with the journey running through the Glade of Woe and the Manor of Perdition before arriving at Red Moon Manor, the new stage built as the hidden fortress of the Order of the Red Moon.
As for what a dollar gets you, the expansion packs more than 10 playable characters, more than 16 weapons and evolutions across base forms, one very large stage, a new adventure, and 11 new music tracks. The character roster leans grim, headlined by Malice herself, a ruthless matron chasing immortality who has so far only learned that most of the 665 previous clan leaders met horribly bloody ends. She’s joined by the beastly barbarian Calogero Bloodmoon, the fossilized horror Ashtart, the eldritch-powered Sargon, and the blood-drunk prophet Baal’Thasar. On the weapons side, highlights include Malice’s paralyzing Scarlet Needle, the enemy-erasing Incineration, and the reality-tearing Blacken Firmament, along with FireBall, which poncle proudly notes is not to be confused with FireFall, FireWall, or their union, FireStall.
Legacy of the Moonspell is getting some love as well, with a permanent price cut to $0.99 and a content update delivering seven new unlocks, including the LunarMight, LunarSight, LunarBight, and LunarFlight weapons, the Argent Flow special evolution, the Pearl Magatama passive weapon, four new characters, one new music track, and buffs for the original cast. The update itself is free.
