Firesprite announced Until Dawn 2 during today’s State of Play, a standalone sequel to 2015’s Until Dawn coming to PlayStation 5 in 2027. The reveal included the game’s first trailer, and it is Firesprite’s first release since Horizon: Call of the Mountain, which the studio developed with Guerrilla Games.
Until Dawn 2 features a new cast playing a crew of ghost hunters behind a popular paranormal channel called Dead True. None of them has actually encountered anything supernatural, and their on-camera scares are staged. That changes after the crew signs a deal with a major TV network and travels to an abandoned tropical island to film its first fully funded episode, where the group comes face-to-face with real horrors.
The island hides centuries-old secrets described as hungry for vengeance, and the crew’s complicated relationships surface as the situation turns deadly. As in the original, player choices determine who survives until dawn. Firesprite says managing relationships within the crew matters more than before, with some story branches depending on where characters stand with one another, and even small character moments can set off the Butterfly Effect, sending the story toward unforeseen consequences.
Among the characters shown in the reveal is the returning Dr. Hill, once again played by Peter Stormare. Until Dawn 2 launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, with Firesprite set to share more story, gameplay, and cast details in the months ahead.
