During today’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase, UFO 50 quietly launched on Nintendo Switch as a timed exclusive. The collection of 50 single-player and multiplayer games comes from Mossmouth, the developer of Spelunky. UFO 50 originally launched on Steam last September, earning an Overwhelmingly Positive user review rating and a Metacritic score of 91. The 50 games span multiple genres, from platformers and puzzle games to roguelites and RPGs. One consistent element is the 8-bit aesthetic, which takes players back to the NES era while incorporating modern game design.
You might think many of these are just minigames or microgames, but they are not. Game sizes vary, but each offers a complete experience—some RPGs can take many hours to beat. UFO 50 will be right at home on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, since many of the games can be enjoyed in handheld mode.
