The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has spent the last few months front and center, with constant trailer debuts. Some have been longer trailers, while others have been shorter snippets shared on social media. Either way, if you’ve engaged with any Nintendo content on social media in the last few months, you’re likely seeing clip after clip from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in your feed. The movie will hit theaters on April 1, but we’ll get one final trailer on March 9 at 2:00 PM Pacific (5:00 PM Eastern) during The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct.
As usual, Nintendo made it clear that no game information will be included in the presentation. We expect this one to be similar to the last one, with some updates from Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo and Chris Meledandri from Illumination. Along with announcing the Direct, the movie shared a new poster that confirms what many longtime fans have speculated: Wart is in the movie. Many believed we’d see the main villain of Super Mario Bros. 2 in the new movie after Birdo, Clawgrip, and Mouser all showed up in the Yoshi First Look trailer.
With merchandise promoting the movie already hitting shelves weeks ago, anticipation feels much higher than for the original. Considering The Super Mario Bros. Movie earned over $1 billion at the box office, we can’t wait to see how successful The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be.
