The Sinking City 2, an upcoming third-person survival horror game from Frogwares, has been pushed into the first half of 2026. Frogwares, which is based in Ukraine, attributed part of the delay to the ongoing war. In a post on Steam, Frogwares pointed to the reality of what’s happening, from drone and missile strikes to rolling power outages and the constant need to adapt to unstable conditions. As a result, production has slowed, and instead of rushing to meet a date, the developer has decided to take the time it needs to finish the game properly.
The goal is to refine Frogwares’ first-ever survival horror experience, from tension and pacing to combat and atmosphere. For those who have never heard of Frogwares, it’s the studio behind the Sherlock Holmes franchise, including Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments and Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter. More recently, Frogwares released The Sinking City Remastered in 2021. The original came in 2019.
Built with Unreal Engine 5, The Sinking City 2 is a terrifying Lovecraftian journey that puts players in the flooded city of Arkham. They’ll have to fight off eldritch monsters with an arsenal of weapons while focusing on inventory management, solving puzzles, and backtracking to newly unlocked areas to find hidden treasures.
If you’re looking forward to The Sinking City 2, you’ll be happy to hear that in the coming months, Frogwares will share new gameplay, behind-the-scenes insights, and updates on how development is progressing.
