In a surprise announcement, Nintendo confirmed the original Switch family of consoles and products will see a pricing change in the U.S. This will include the Nintendo Switch OLED, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch Lite systems, as well as select Nintendo Switch accessories. The pricing change will go into effect on August 3, 2025, and while Nintendo did not announce the new prices, it is safe to assume they will increase. Nintendo is attributing the changes to market conditions, which normally isn’t a way to say something is getting discounted.

Other Nintendo products will also be impacted, including certain Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, select amiibo, and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo. Prior to the Switch 2 launch, uncertainty over Trump Administration tariffs prompted Nintendo to move the preorder date. While the Switch 2 price remained unchanged, several accessories increased ahead of launch. Those who want to get their hands on certain Switch 2 accessories might want to do so before August 3.

There is some good news, if you can even call it that. Pricing for the Switch 2 system, physical and digital games, as well as Nintendo Switch Online memberships will remain unchanged at this time. Nintendo included its standard disclaimer that price adjustments may be necessary in the future.
