Each year, Steam shares its “Best of” lists, highlighting the games and products that defined the year on the platform. As usual, the top performers for each category are broken down into Platinum (1-12), Gold (13-24), Silver (25-50), and Bronze (50-100). This year, there are seven categories: New Releases, Top Sellers, Most Played, Steam Deck, Controller, VR, and Demos. The current list was generated on December 15, and it will be updated with final data on January 15, 2026. Historically, there haven’t been any significant changes one month later, especially within the Platinum and Gold ranks.
The New Releases category covers the top products released in 2025 by revenue, while Top Sellers covers the top products by revenue earned in 2025. Most Played is what it sounds like, measured by unique players over the calendar year, while Steam Deck highlights the most played games on Steam Deck, also measured by unique players over the calendar year. The same logic applies to Controller, which covers the most played games with a controller, and VR, the most played VR experiences measured by unique players over the calendar year. Finally, Demos covers the most played demos.
To keep the list manageable, we’re only reporting the top 24 (Platinum and Gold) for each category, but the full top 100 for each category can be found on Steam.
