Creepy Jar is moving fast with StarRupture. The factory automation game launched into Early Access in January, and its first major content update is now available for players to test through the Public Test Branch on Steam. The update isn’t officially live yet, but those who want an early look can jump into the PTB and experiment with the new content right now. Progress made in the PTB won’t carry over when the update officially launches, so treat it as a sandbox to mess around in.

There’s quite a bit being added with the game’s first major update. The map is expanding with new unlockable zones and points of interest, which is great news for anyone who felt like they’d explored most of what Arcadia-7 had to offer in the base Early Access build. Two new resources, Powerium and Goethite, are being added alongside over 40 new items and recipes to produce and ship to corporations. There are nine entirely new buildings spanning extraction, ore processing, production, power, and personal crafting, plus upgraded v.2 versions of six existing buildings. Ziplines are coming too, which should make getting around the map significantly less tedious, which addresses one of our major complaints with the game.

The update also introduces wildlife for the first time, with three new creatures: Vulpir, Coralion, and Skylisk. Corporation levels are being expanded with new rewards, and there’s a new Development Station feature. The team notes the PTB build may contain some bugs, but they’ve set up a dedicated feedback form for players who want to report issues.

We spent time with StarRupture at launch and compared it to taking Satisfactory’s formula, refining some of the tedious parts, and adding great gunplay with a huge map to explore. As fans of Factorio and Satisfactory, we’ve been impressed with the foundation Creepy Jar has built, and seeing the first major update arrive this quickly is encouraging. StarRupture is available now on Steam Early Access.
