Bad Robot Games, a division of JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot production company, is partnering with Sony Interactive Entertainment to get its first internally developed game out the door. Sony will produce and publish Bad Robot Games’ upcoming project, which is an unannounced four-player cooperative shooter from Left 4 Dead’s Mike Booth. Details on the new game are light, but we can expect something along the lines of Left 4 Dead since Booth is directing it. It’s currently in development for PlayStation 5 and PC.
If you’ve never heard of Bad Robot, it’s the film, television, and theater production company founded by JJ Abrams and behind Lost, Cloverfield, Mission: Impossible, Star Wars, Star Trek, and more. Bad Robot Games is a division of Bad Robot, serving as a dedicated game studio working on new and existing franchises. At the helm is Anna Sweet, who has a history at Microsoft, MySpace, Valve, Oculus, and more.
“Partnering with Sony Interactive Entertainment allows us to bring our new IP to life, with an expansive vision for this new universe,” said Anna Sweet, CEO of Bad Robot Games. “With the support of PlayStation, we hope to deliver a bold, innovative experience that is truly special for players. I could not be more excited that Mike Booth is at the creative helm, crafting a cooperative adventure that will lead to unforgettable moments with friends.”
