Hot on the heels of Nintendo’s Direct announcement for September 14, Sony has scheduled a State of Play for the same day at 2:00pm Pacific/5:00pm Eastern. The broadcast will spotlight updates on previously announced games, ranging from indie and PS VR2 highlights to significant upcoming releases from third-party partners. While the duration of the State of Play remains uncertain, we anticipate appearances from games such as: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Banishers: Ghost of New Eden, Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and Ghostrunner 2.

Despite Sony’s emphasis on indie, PS VR2, and third-party games for the State of Play, we expect at least a new trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, given its status as Sony’s next major first-party release in October. It’s possible Final Fantasy VII Rebirth makes an appearance, but that’s likely being saved for Tokyo Game Show 2023.
