Developer YsNet and publisher ININ Games announced Shenmue III Enhanced, with an official unveiling scheduled for Gamescom 2025. The upgraded edition brings overhauled visuals, performance boosts, and quality-of-life updates, with the goal of making Shenmue III Enhanced the best way to experience Ryo Hazuki’s story. While no release date has been announced, Shenmue III Enhanced is headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, “Nintendo,” and PC. We’re assuming “Nintendo” refers to Switch and Switch 2, but we’ll have to wait for official confirmation.

No screenshots have been shared yet, but publisher ININ Games confirmed Shenmue III Enhanced will benefit from sharper 4K textures, richer details, faster load times, and smoother gameplay. Taking advantage of current-gen hardware, the game increases NPC density so the city of Niaowu feels more alive. Quality-of-life updates include a classic camera mode inspired by Shenmue I and II, optional stamina adjustments, health restoration before fights, and reduced money barriers for smoother progression. Shenmue III Enhanced will also add options to skip cutscenes and conversations, expand QTE timing windows, streamline navigation, and add helpful alerts. Of course, all these changes can be toggled on or off for players who want the pure Shenmue III experience. On PC, the game will support DLSS and FSR.

Those who currently own Shenmue III on PlayStation 4 or PC will be offered an upgrade to the Enhanced Edition, but we’ll have to wait for details.
