Based on a classic pen-and-paper RPG franchise, Harebrained Schemes has released Shadowrun Returns today on PC and Mac, and is currently available on Steam for $19.99. Shadowrun was originally created in 1989 and in the world of video games, the first Shadowrun game was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1993. More recently, a Shadowrun iteration hit PC and Xbox 360 in 2007, but was mostly disregarded since it was a first-person shooter instead of a classic RPG. Hardcore fans have been anxiously awaiting Shadowrun Returns ever since it appeared on Kickstarter in April 2012.

One of the original success stories of Kickstarter, Shadowrun Returns and Harebrained Schemes were looking for $400,00 in funding but received $1,836,447. The developer also received another $59,325 via Paypal, bringing its grand total to almost $1.9 million. So was it worth all the money? We highly recommend you to try it out yourself if you are a fan of RPG, adventure, or strategy games.

Initial reviews throughout the Internet are overwhelmingly positive, and for the price tag of $19.99, you really can’t go wrong. You can head over to Steam to grab your own copy – which includes a level editor, allowing anyone to create and share their own stories and campaigns with the Steam Workshop community.
