Hyperkin has announced that the RetroN 5 release date has been set for December 10, 2013. Last week, the RetroN 5 made an appearance on Amazon for pre orders with a retail price of $99.99. The console will be able to play NES, SNES, Genesis and GBA catridges all in one convenient console.
The RetroN 5 release date is is much later than the original October 31, 2013 that was posted on Amazon due to “several key modifications made to the console shown at E3,” according to Hyperkin in a press release. The shell design of the RetroN 5 has been changed to allow for better ventilation along with accommodations to use the Sega Power Base Converter, allowing users to play Master System cartridges on the console. Hyperkin also confirmed that the original RetroN 5 release date listing on Amazon was just a placeholder.
All versions of the RetroN 5 console will come with a power adapter with four variable head sockets to fit multiple regions.
